It is not impossible for the vehicle to become better and safer in the future since we already have the most advanced technology that can be used in transforming its look and the act of driving. In fact, there are now inventions of new devices and features introduced by some car manufacturers that really make a big difference on vehicles.

Here are the lists of the latest in new tech vehicles sourced from autos.canada.com

  1. Structural Health Monitor – this suspension that diagnoses its own breakdown was built by Purdue University scientists. It features a string of sensors placed in areas of the car prone to breakdown such as struts and bolts. This sensor analyzes vibration within the suspension and feeds the date to a computer that analyzes each part’s performance.
  2. Smart Parking – this was developed by Peter Frise, a professor of automotive engineering at the University of Windsor, Ont. This is designed to take the fear out of parallel parking. It consists of a miniature wide-angled camera fixed just above the license plate. This works in such a way hat when a parking spot comes into view, the driver presses a button and lets the car park itself. To see if the car is slipping effortlessly into the tight space, the dashboard-mounted screen is needed.
  3. Self-driving cars – one of these self-driving cars is designed by the scientists at Stanford University. They had created a vamped-up Volkswagen Touareg known as Stanley, which monitors a constant stream of data from three calculations of items such as wheel spin to continually keep itself on course.
  4. Nano Paint or Mood Ring-Style Paint – This paint that changes color based on the weather was developed by a German chemist. It reacts to shifting humidity, light, heat and cold by fusing flecks of gold on to glass particles several times smaller than viruses. Depending on the weather, its cluster clings together or expands and unique patterns of infrared and near-infrared light reflection are produced, which the eye interprets as different colors. However, since the vehicle changes colors on different weather conditions, the owner might end up misplacing the car.
  5. Self-repairing Paint – The pint has a Scratch Guard Coat which is an elastic, water-repellant resin that promises to repair its own minor scratches caused by car wash machines, failed parking attempts, fingernails or even key-wielding hooligans.

You had probably noticed that the electric cars show up in the news all the time. Well, it is obviously because they are one of the latest trends on cars. Electric cars are one of the top interest of people since they create less pollution, news story about hybrid cars usually talks about electric cars as well, and they are powered by fuel cells.

Electric cars are also called weird cars because of their unusual body design. But definitely not until you get the chance to see one of its model, which is the Electrum Spyder. This electric convertible car has a sporty look that can only accommodate the driver and one passenger. Aside from its unique design, you will surely love to own this vehicle since it features outstanding speed without emission.

electrum-spyder.jpg

(Source) The Electrum Spyder is an exciting two passenger convertible all electric freeway flier that is available in a limited production. Powered by a 300 vdc system, the Spyder provides an effective range of up to 150 miles at a top speed of approximately 100 miles per hour on a full charge using Nickel Metal Hydride batteries, standard in all of our vehicles. As with all of our Electrum series, the Spyder can be up graded to lithium ion batteries with a range of up to 250 miles on a single charge.

Currently, there is a need to cut back the excessive consumption of fuel since oil prices continue to increase along with depleting supplies and rapid growth in demand. But thanks to the research and development team who continue to find ways on how to decrease the very high demand of oil. They had invented the hybrid car, which brings hope to many car owners and users.

To some, hybrid car is an electrical vehicle since the power of the conventional gasoline and electricity is combined. Yes, in the form of stored electricity in the batteries, it uses 40% of vehicle consumption from electrical sources but technically it is not a pure electric vehicle.

This hybrid car is prepared to face a complete run out of oil supplies in the future and currently this brings a lot of saving on the part of car owner. At any rate, the overall consumption of oil could be significantly lowered using this hybrid car. Let us just hope that the research is still on going in order to develop further better versions of modern hybrid vehicle that will really prepare everything in the near future

As the latest trend on vehicles nowadays, may people wants to own this hybrid car. But just like any other technologies, there are hinders to owning and using this kind of vehicle. Here are the lists of obvious downsides:

1. Because the hybrid car technology is still a relatively new car technology, it is just logical that the vehicle is expensive. On the average, a hybrid car these days costs more than the regular and usual cars by around $2,000 to $5,000. That is just right and is expected with the high demand for the car as more consumers get excited about it and manufacturers continue to produce the vehicle models on a limited ability.

2. Any hybrid car needs to allot a significant amount of space for battery. Because the hybrid car needs batteries to keep it going and for the use of some if its functions, the overall weight of the car gets more and more.

3. There are several states in the United States and some other global governments globally that are charging more additional fees and other charges for acquisition and registration.

4. If the hybrid car gets into possible crashes and collisions in the future, there is a risk that the incident would be more tragic. A hybrid car typically and normally has high voltage wires within it.

5. A regular and even simple hybrid car is made of a very complicated car system. Thus, ordinary mechanics would not have the needed and required skills and knowledge to attend to any technical need for maintenance of any hybrid car.

6. Because hybrid cars are still not too rampant and ordinary, buying spare parts may be very hard, if not impossible. Further, costs of spare parts can be very expensive.

7. It is a common knowledge that hybrid cars run slower than regular car models.

The Ultimate Eco Car… Source [Eco Friend]

eco-car.jpg

The man behind this ultimate eco car is Vasily Lazarenko, a Ukranian. He made the car’s body with thousand of oak parts, which makes it pretty strong but heavy. It is powered by an old 1981 Opel engine so its serius acceleration and top speed are in doubts. Although uniquely designed, car makers are not likely to accept this one. But still, I give my thumbs up to this man for such cleverness!

On my previous post, I gave you the Top 5 Dream Cars. If you’ll noticed most of them are hybrid cars, which are actually the latest trend on cars.

But why choose hybrid cars?

Aside from its sense of style, hybrid car is an economical choice with today’s rising gas prices. Even if getting a hybrid car is way expensive, this will end up being cost-effective when you start seeing all the gas saving you had every month. Less fuel consumption also means a great help to the environment so there is actually tax deductions on hybrid cars. You can even enjoy benefits like car pool lane entry and free parking so why not a hybrid car! These are obvious reasons why people are aiming to have this latest innovation on car.

Top 1: Toyota Prius Hybrid

toyotaprius.jpgThe Prius engine — a 1.4 liter, four cylinder DOHC, 16-valve, gas-electric wonder — delivers speed, agility and handling with enough style for any taste. And while the interior has modern details (push button start, in-dash modular shift stick, space-age computer console), there’s enough classic design in there to satisfy even most traditionalists.

Top 2: Honda Civic Hybrid

hondacivic1.jpg

With an estimated 49 mpg city and 51 mpg highway, Honda’s Civic Hybrid is a fuel-efficient powerhouse, which comes from its agile 4hp, 1.3 liter SOHC, 8-valve gas-electric engine. The engine has a distinct whine when accelerating fast and then whooshes into an airplane-like sound once the gas kicks in.

Top 3: Toyota Camry Hybrid

toyotacamry1.jpg

Toyota has combined the styling, luxury and reliability of the Camry with its “hybrid synergy drive” to capture an estimated 40 mpg city and 38 mpg highway. (In our road test, we were disappointed to get an average 24 mpg). Toyota’s Camry Hybrid runs on a super fast 147 hp, 2.4 liter, four-cylinder 2AZ-FXE Atkinson-cycle engine. But the engine seemed secondary to the inside of the bright red Toyota Camry Hybrid LXE we tested several weeks ago.

Top 4: Honda Accord Hybrid

hondaaccord.jpg

Billed as America’s first V6 hybrid, the Honda Accord Hybrid certainly lives up to its speedy status. In our road test, we found the Honda Accord Hybrid to be a quick, responsive, agile and fuel efficient with an average 25 mpg. The interior styling, however, seemed to lack some refinement for the $30,000 MSRP price. Lots of black plastic and shiny metal tends to dull the senses, rather enliven the driving experience. Honda Accord models received a top safety pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for their good crash test records.

Top 5: Lexus GS 450h

lexus.jpg

Compared to its gas-powered, full-throated cousin, the Lexus GS, the 450h does seem to lag behind a touch in acceleration. Lexus, however, claims the GS 450h goes from zero to 60 mpg in approximately 5.2 seconds, which surpasses some competitive V8 vehicles.

I was indeed exposed to the world of automobiles but the odd thing is I did not own a car and I did not even know how to drive. My office was just few kilometers away from my place that is why I had not thought of getting one for myself. Back then, it was impractical for me to worry on the vehicle’s gas that is so expensive, its maintenance, and the parking fees since the public transport is more convenient.

When I got married, I quitted on my job since my husband was permanently assigned here in Los Angeles. I am now a full time mother of an adorable 2 year old boy and I can’t afford to miss the early stage of his growing up. Even though I am faced to a new career as a mom, I would say that my passion for cars has never ended. I am so crazy about the latest trend on cars that made me bought the outstanding 2008 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid and learned how to drive. This model features a fuel-efficient gas engine combined with electric motor that assists the engine for an outstanding performance. This is also a 4-door, 5-passenger sedan which makes it a family car.
